About the Authors Lewis Walker and Ken Deshaies

Lewis WalkerLewis Walker has earned an extensive list of designations and certifications over the past 25 years, such as Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR), Certified Buyer's Representative (CBR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Certified Sales Professional (CSP), the Real Estate Cyber Space Society (RECS), and was one of the first in The Woodlands area to receive the coveted e-Pro Internet Professional Certification from the National Association of REALTOR®s. All of these professional accomplishments are designed to provide the highest level of service to real estate buyers, sellers and investors.

Mr. Walker is also an active member of the Real Estate Buyers Council (REBAC), National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB), the Texas Association of Builders (TAB), the Greater Houston Builders Association, and the Residential Sales Council. His strong background in real estate financing comes from being a major stockholder and president of a mortgage company. He was involved in every aspect from loan origination, processing and underwriting to the delivery of the money.

Lewis has literally walked much of the six-county area around Houston, Texas. He is familiar with many of the indigenous features of this region that define the land such as contour, foliage, water, and soil conditions. His extensive use of map services for topography, aerials, hazards, flood plains, ownership, soils, faults and transportation routes has benefited land clients since 1977.

Because of his extensive knowledge of tax deferred exchanges, the construction processes, builder/developer cost and profit margins, easements, mineral rights and searches, surface rights, wetlands, endangered species, flood plains, hazardous sites, values from soils, timber and other concerns, he has an extensive network and knows the correct experts to utilize to benefit the client. And Lewis constantly continues to update his real estate knowledge from property management and commercial construction to the latest trends in Internet Marketing.

From 1990 to 1996 Lewis Walker has the executive producer for the RE/MAX Woodlands Home Show, a real estate television program that was broadcasted daily in The Woodlands. In 1965, his Internet site forged a new perspective in multimedia exposure. His award-winning Internet presence has grown to twelve web sites and has attracted buyers from Australia, England, Singapore, Germany and Norway, as well as throughout Texas. Lewis provides both local and International exposure and the right niche marketing tools for unique properties, ensuring his clients the highest level of service.

Ken DeshaiesKen Deshaies is the leader of The Deshaies Team. Working as associate brokers for RE/MAX Properties of the Summit in Summit County, Colorado, he and his wife, Mary, and Sherri Zaret were second in production for all the RE/MAX offices in the County in the year 2000.

Ken and Mary have worked together in this business since 1993, and have lived in Summit County since 1994. For several years, Ken was chair of the Professional Standards Committee of the Summit Association of REALTOR®s, the committee that oversees the ethical conduct of Association members. He is currently President Elect of this Association, on the board of the Colorado Association of REALTOR®s, and serves on the Committee on Designated Brokerage.

Prior to real estate, Ken owned a private investigations firm for 12 years in Denver, employing seven investigators, and serving for a period as the president of the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado. In this work, he conducted numerous investigations into real estate transactions and claims of fraud. During this time, he was also a member of the Win/Win Business Forum of Denver and was its president for a year and a half.

Ken has worked to position his Team to be ahead of the curve in terms of the use of technology in real estate. He has completed significant educational courses on development of web sites, communication by e-mail, and working with online consumers.
